Happy Mother's Day for Sunday!
TRIMLEY ST MARTIN PRIMARY SCHOOL |
For this weeks cooking session, (as you probably know by now!) we made 'Mother's Day buns' . We decorated two buns each, with baby pink icing, edible flowers and sprinkles! They looked rather yummy- and lots of us hoped that our Mummy's would share them with us.

This afternoon, as part of our topic of 'Animals' we had a visit from Jan, who volunteers for the Blue Cross.
Jan spoke to us about how we look after our Pets and other animals. Jan brought a pet carry-case in with her which was jam-packed with many things we need for looking after our pets, from dog and cat food, to flea treatments and a toothbrush and toothpaste for dogs and cats! Many of us had a turn at reaching into the carry-case and pulling an item out and then guessing what it was or what the item was used for. Jan also talked to us about dog-safety and what we need to do if a dog we don't know runs up to us- we learnt that we should stand up straight with our arms folded and fingers tucked in, and then look away and ignore the dog - we all had a go at this. Jan then taught us what we should do if we are knocked over by a dog - we learnt that we need to curl up on our knees with our head tucked in - 'like a rock'- we all had a go at this too! The last thing Jan talked to us about was how to approach an unfamiliar dog. She told us that we MUST ALWAYS ASK THE OWNER first before touching the dog, and if the owner is not with the dog (e.g. outside a shop) to just leave the dog alone and walk away. Jan also told us that we should also let the dog sniff our hand first before stroking it. We all had an interesting and fun afternoon and learnt lots of new things - even the adults in the classroom did too! A big THANK YOU to Jan for coming to visit us! Today, we were all treated to some great music from our in house, and self- named band... 'The Noisy Band'. The band spent quite a while 'rehearsing' in the cloakroom and then made invitations for people to come and watch their concert. Invitations were even delivered to Mrs Ross, Mrs Matthews and Mrs Lawrence.to come and watch. So once we had all tidied up, the invited adults came down and the rest of the class got to hear some fantastic music....including a 1,2, a 1,2,3,4 count in!...well done 'The Noisy Band'....next stop...'V festival'.
