Thank you to everyone who made it along to our Christmas craft afternoon yesterday. It was great to see so many of you! Don't forget that at the Christmas fayre on Thursday we will be selling some of our craft items. We have already been thinking about how much each item will cost and in maths the children have been recognising the correct coins that people will need to use to pay. A great end to a busy week! Today we have been pretending that we were bakers just like Thomas Farynor. This week and next week we are looking at instructions, ensuring that we follow them carefully, include bossy verbs and time connectives. The children worked in groups to read and follow a set of instructions on how to make bread. The children measured, kneaded and shaped carefully and the bread smelt lovely (and tasted very crusty).
Thank you to Miss Rushbrooke for helping today. Today the children had the opportunity to really relive life in 1666 with our Great Fire of London Day. They looked fantastic and great effort had been put into their outfits. We started the day with a visit from Annie, she is from a theatre group and helped us re-enact the great fire using drama & dance. The children could show off with how much they knew about the event, Annie was very impressed. This afternoon the children had a go at writing their names will a quill, just like Samuel Pepys. This afternoon we also made Great Fire of London pictures using tissue paper and black card. We thought about the background colors and tried make silhouettes of the buildings. They look very effective on our display. I hope the children have enjoyed the day, thanks for all of the effort with their outfits.
