So... it comes to an end. The second Trimley St Martin London Residential trip. It has been busy... very busy! But... the aim was to give children a chance to experience London; its 'busyness' (not sure thats a word!), its culture, its history, its underground and its sights. We have completed it that in what has felt like the three longest days ever. At time the children have been exhuasted and then two seconds later even livelier than they were in the beginning. I hope that they have enjoyed their trip and learnt alot about the capital city - i do know they cant wait to get back to Suffolk. There were more people on our train from Pizza Hut than live in Kirton (we think!).
A huge thank you to the adults that supported us on this trip. Its a big ask to give up three days to come along (especially if you are not employed by the school) and its intense. 24/7! Theres not a single moment where you are not on duty. This trip is also very challenging in other ways... the demands of public transport, busy environments and lots of walking... its not like a coach trip to Ipswich Museum. I am incredibly grateful to all the adults for making this happen and for being an amazing team of people. As with last year, we ve had loads of positive comments whilst travelling around London... and some of these:
'You re mad!'
'Glad its you and not me!'
'Oooh what a lovely polite young man!'
I do want to thank the children (perhaps not at 1.30am on the first night) but over the whole trip. It has been tiring but they have been positive, upbeat and most importantly a lot of fun! They ve had to take on a lot of instruction and information whilst protecting the items purchased from the gift shops.
I hope you have had a chance to follow this blog... its been quite therapeutic. If anything drastic changes on the last part of the journey we will let you know! If not we'll see you at Trimley Station waving the welcome home hankies!
