The children rated this museum their favourite today. The exhibits were hands-on and pitched at the right level. The children loved seeing the London 2012 Olympic torch, walking down a Victorian street and experiencing the Great Fire of London. Gift shop was given a 4 out of 10... hats the biggest seller in this one.
By the time we arrived at the museum everyone was exhausted. 4 tube journeys, two museums completed and just 1 more to go before food! The children enjoyed the Egypt exhibitions, the Sutton Hoo and the Ancient Greece exhibits. But they enjoyed the shop more! Plastic catapults and mini screwdriver sets were the best sellers!
A lovely meal at the Plough in Holborn who had set up their function room purely for us. The food was delicious even though Mrs Matthews rare steak was like the sole of a pair of converse trainers. Apart from that... it was lovely!
Everyone loved tonights show! Great music, great seats and an excellent production of a classic story. The children were amazed and baffled by the special effects in the show... it was a great night but an hour to get back to our accommodation has left everyone completely shattered. But despite saying how desperately tired they are ALL DAY suddenly, now its bed time, they are all awake again! Lights off in 5.... fingers crossed!
Day 1 complete... and it was a busy one! Mrs Matthews wins the prize for getting the girls to sleep before the boys! Last year I won the title and then proceeded to wind Mrs Matthews up that she hadnt managed to get a great deal of sleep after she was kept awake by the girls talking! This year... she is tucked up in bed, cosy and relaxed and now its my turn. I did say to them the evening snack of haribo wasnt the best idea! Hey ho!
An excellent visit to the Imperial War Museum! Just enough time to get round to see everything and get into the Imperial War Museum shop to buy some springs? and some magnets? Well... it beats a chocolate coin and an overpriced pencil sharpener!
We travelled in style! We even had little card in the back of our seats with our names on! We felt like celebrities (the proper ones - the ones with some talent!), OSCAR winners! BAFTA winners! Princess Anne : )
We managed to take over the top floor of the 344 bus to the Imperial War Museum. The sweet old lady in the purple scarf soon moved when she heard us coming up the stairs. She was wise! The children talk soooooo loud! Why say it quietly when you can SHOUT it?
