We spent the day touring the castle, trying on outfits that would have been worn and exploring old artefacts. We then took part in a group activity where we looked at the different foods which may have been eaten, looked at a quill pen and had a go at colouring our own illuminated letters. We smelt lots of spices that were used as medicines, most didn't smell very nice!
After lunch we took part in a guided story which was led by the lord of the castle. We thought about how people would try and get into the castle and how we could defend it. We got to wear special tabards and learnt lots about the castle. We even got to walk along the spiral staircase up 43 steps to get to the top. We had a pretend battle where we got to charge at the castle scaring all of the ladies near by!
After a great day we were all very tired, some of us even had a nap on the coach! Thank you to all the parent helpers and the children for being so well behaved!
