Put a piece of cardboard across the books. Add coins onto the cardboard until it falls down. How can you make your bridge stronger? What is the maximum number of coins that it will hold. Some of the results: SCience: Classification and fungi factfileWe started a new unit this week on Classification. Another week of home learning in Mandela Class. This week we have all been working hard at home. Here are some of the highlights: Art: A directed drawing of a Bicycle
Geography: Researching one of the seven continentsEnglish: Writing a persuasive advert for our gadgetsScience: FossilsThis week in science was all about fossils. The children had a few tasks to complete exploring how fossils help scientists find out about dinosaurs and the ancestors of present day animals and humans. DT: Design EngineeringLast week in DT, we looked at what a design engineer was and some of the characteristics of a design engineer using a project from the Dyson Foundation. We followed on this week by working as design engineers to look at everyday objects around our house or school that we thought would be interesting to design differently. We used PMI (plus, minus, interesting) to explore what was good about an object, what was bad about it and what we thought could be changed about the object. Mandela Class have been working hard in their first full week of home learning. Here are some of the highlights! Art - Clarice Cliff Plate DesignsScience - Beak Experiment |
