Mandela had a great day today....It was Sports Day! In the morning Year 6 helped the Key Stage One children with their sports events. Organising the events, helping the children and cheering them on. A fantastic morning, with Y6 working hard to be good role models. The younger children all had lots of fun! Blue Cool Cats won for Key Stage One, with Yellow Dragons coming second. In the afternoon, after a family picnic lunch, it was the Key Stage Two Sports Day. Each year group took part in 4 events: hurdles, long jump, long distance race and throwing. We then had running races on the track. Once again we saw some fantastic sportmanship from all who took part, cheering each other on and celebrating each other's achievements. Yellow Dragons won for Key Stage Two, with Blue Cool Cats coming in a close second. Overall a fantastic day!!!!

Mandela class really enjoyed the fitness circuit run by Kola and Nathan who are both international triple jump athletes. Afterwards we had the chance to meet them, hear about their training (and have a go ourselves) and ask them questions. It was inspiring to listen to their stories and hear about their ongoing journey to success. We are looking forward to having a go at the long jump during Sports Day (next week) and hope to see them in the 2016 Olympics!!
