Today is the beginning of Road Safety Week - and today brave Roman came down to parliament to deliver a letter to UK Prime Minister about the accident that he had outside his primary school in Trimley st Martin, and what he wants to see to improve the safety around his school. He also met lots of MPs at my drop in, where MPs were giving their support for my campaign to improve road safety around our schools. Well done Roman! A Huge Thank You to Our Wonderful VolunteersThis weekend, we were delighted to see our school community come together to help improve our playground. A heartfelt thank you goes to all the staff and parent volunteers who generously gave up their time to build and fix the planters onto the playground wall. These new planters serve two important purposes. Firstly, they support our commitment to reducing the school’s carbon footprint as part of our Sustainability Action Plan, helping us create more green spaces and encourage biodiversity. Secondly, the added height they provide to the playground wall helps to make the area even safer for our children. We are incredibly grateful for the hard work, teamwork, and positivity shown by everyone involved. Your efforts make a real difference, and our pupils will benefit from these improvements for years to come. Thank you for helping us make our school an even better place to learn and play. As part of our ongoing campaign to improve road safety outside our school, we would like to share a link to today’s (12.11.25) House of Commons session.
During this session, Jenny Riddell-Carpenter presented her road safety bill and delivered a speech highlighting the importance of safer crossings—beginning at approximately 2 hours and 17 minutes into the broadcast (around 1:17pm). Both Trimley St Martin and Bucklesham School are mentioned in her address, reflecting the valuable work being done to support safer routes for our pupils and community. The theme this year is “Power for Good”, with the main aim to empower children and young people to use their voice to speak out, support others, and build a world where kindness wins Throughout the week children will take part in activities and discussions to help them understand the importance of kindness, respect, and standing up against bullying.
To conclude the week, on Friday 14th November, we will also be supporting Children in Need with a Non-School Uniform Day. We are encouraging all children to come to school wearing their own clothes — bright colours, spots, or anything fun and cheerful are very welcome and of course ODD SOCKS! Thank you for your continued support in helping us promote kindness, inclusion, and care for others both within our school and beyond. |
