I think we definitely have a few budding archaeologists amongst us! Huge apologies if your son or daughter came home and dug up the back garden in an attempt to find the remains of a Roman vase or Celtic dinner plate. However, if your son or daughter did find an ancient artefact, please do remember the school that taught them skills in the first place and consider making a small donation! : )
To bring to life Year 3 and Year 4's work on the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Celts and Romans, the school invited in an archaeologist who worked alongside the children teaching them all about archaeology; what it is?, why we do it?, and most importantly what we can learn from it? The children were fascinated as they sifted through the buckets of earth; using tooth brushes and other implements to clean up their findings and make predictions about the period in which the artefact would have been made and used. : ) Just an update on where half of the money we raised from Children in Need day has gone. Paula Goodson (A friend of Mrs Ross) has travelled to Sri Lanka to help build a school and work with the children there. Above are some more pictures of Paula with the children.
