In English we were able to follow a set of instructions for a range of activities. This will help us to write our own instructions tomorrow.

We went around the school hunting for different objects. We named the materials they were made from and thought about why the object was made from that material.
In Art last week we created some beautiful dot paintings inspired by Aboriginal work which we observed.
In History we are learning about the invention of the telephone. We thought about the forms of communication people used prior to the invention of the telephone. One particularly interesting form of communication was the Aboriginal message stick. We made our own message stick to deliver a message to a person who was special to us.
This afternoon we had to bring in the punctuation police! Miss Thurlow had written a story over the weekend and all of her full stops were stolen!
Luckily, we have been learning about where we need a full stop (at the end of an independent clause). We found out that full sentences always have a noun and verb in them. We were able to add "Frankie full stops" to the sentences. We had to read the sentences carefully to make sure they were full sentences. Then Miss Thurlow took our photographs. The children worked really hard this afternoon and were very confident at finding where the full stops were needed. Great work Year 2! Let's hope there are no punctuation thieves when we complete writing in our posh new English books! :) |
