We were learning about 'contraction words' and learnt that a contraction is a shortened version of another word such as could not = couldn't.
We learnt that when we take away a letter(s) from the original word, it is replaced with an apostrophe ( or which Isaac named a 'flying comma'- which I think is much better!).
We had a list of words and some pictures of plasters.
Our task was to cut the original word out and cut out the letters we didn't need. We then stuck them as a new word in our books, replacing the missing words with a plaster to show the place of the apostrophe.
Have a look at some photos from our lesson....
