Last week we were learning to tell the time, we are getting very clever at recognising o'clock, half past and even quarter past and quarter to! Take a look at some of the work we have been doing!
The children wanted to share the song they learnt in music last week. We learnt about different types of reggae music. We used the instruments to tap along to the beat.
This afternoon in Design and Technology the children made models of their favourite playground equipment. We spent a long time planning our designs, thinking about what materials we could use to make them strong. We talked about visiting a playground and made a pictogram of our favourite items of playground equipment. The children talked about what each piece of equipment was made of and what age range it would be suitable for. The children used wood, cardboard, wool, tape and straws to join there constructions together....Here they are!
Clay: 3D. Henry and the pebbles, the children responded to the story of Henry the pebble, his sister Beatrice and their Uncles, Arthur and George. We developed an understanding of lots of techniques, rolling, squeezing and rubbing while Henry went on his adventure. We finished with designing our own tiles, we made impressions in the clay using lots of different objects. The children loved getting messy!
Textiles. Wrapping and Knotting. Using colourful fabric strips, ribbon, string and wool, the children were given two pieces of wooden doweling. Using knotting and wrapping techniques, the children made pretty hangings and frames.
Textiles. Fabric hangings. Embellishing fabric with Brusho (dye). Carrying on from the previous textile session lesson, the children decorated the fabric with primary colours. The children enjoyed watching as the fabric absorbed the dye and sometimes mixed to make a secondary colours. They look fantastic!
