During our Science lesson this afternoon, we were learning about passing on germs and how we can prevent this by washing our hands regularly. We were all asked to put our heads down, and see if we could feel anything. Mrs Tubby then came along and 'sneezed. on the back of our necks (of course, this was just a spay bottle filled with some warm water). It was funny but rather disgusting! We then thought about how far the 'snot' from the 'sneeze' would travel...as many of us touched the back of our necks and then unknowingly touched our mouths, faces etc. As well as talking about the importance of washing our hands, we also spoke about how important it is to cover our mouths and noses when we sneeze and cough, to stop germs spreading. Mrs Tubby then put some 'snot' (pink hand soap) into 2 children's hands, and then asked them to go and shake everyone in the class' hands.....to see how far the germs were spread. It was horrid and we all made sure we washed our hands thoroughly afterwards We also learnt that when washing our hands, we should sing/hum the tune of 'Happy Birthday' twice over.......then we know we have washed our hands thoroughly enough!!........Happy hand washing!
