Saturday School For Able Gifted and Talented.
Trimley St Martin Opened Their Doors On Saturday!!! Activities took place for the children from all seven Felixstowe schools for a fun action packed morning of challenging activities. These activities included drama, theatrical artwork, science circus, sewing and mathematics in which children adopted an animal as a zoo vet. G and T Have Been Teaching
Becky and Jessica taught Year 3 all about character description. It was good fun teaching them because the children were all engaged in learning. A group of G and T presented their research presentations in assembly to the whole school. The children were inspired and confidence grew as we presented our ideas. On a Friday we meet in the ICT suite to work on our G and T challenge. I wrote to the author David Walliams. This morning I received a fantastic letter back from him. This very famous person had taken the time to reply to me. It told me all about him and his books and the release on Boxing day of the film premier of The Boy In The Dress !!!!! I feel inspired to read lots more of his books. In January all G and T members will be presenting their projects to the rest of the school so stay tuned. ‘Gifted' learners are those who have abilities in one or more academic subjects, like maths and English 'Talented' learners are those who have practical skills in areas like sport, music, design or creative and performing arts Skills like leadership, decision-making and organisation are also taken into account when identifying and providing for gifted and talented children. |

ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP - DAY 1

FULLY BOOKED SESSIONS
Unfortunately our workshops were fully booked! Do not panic! If your child was issued with a letter it means that they have already been recognised by your childs school as being Able, Gifted and Talented and will already be receiving additional challenge from their class teacher within their class. The response to the workshops have been overwhelmingly positive (hence the fact that some are full!) and already the other schools in Felixstowe are in the process of coordinating the next set of workshops. So this is just the beginning... there will be more workshops coming very soon - some of which maybe at your childs school or at another school which is nearer to you. No doubt, the workshops will improve in quality and quantity because we now know that there is a demand for these courses and at Trimley St Martin we will pass on details of what worked well and what needs tweaking before the next school coordinates the next workshop.
