At Trimley St Martin Primary, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of our children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.
Each class has a designated time for PE. Please ensure your child comes to school prepared. They need their full TSM PE kit which is as follows;

intentOur P.E curriculum is a bespoke planned scheme, which is followed from reception to Year 6.
Children are exposed to traditional sports as well as more unusual sports such as ‘The Santa Dash’, free running and orienteering. By the time, our children leave school we hope to instill a love of sport and a want to take part in sport for pleasure. We endeavour to change their perception of ‘P.E’ and understand its importance in their health and well-being as a whole – in and out of school life. implememtation |
impactAt Trimley St Martin, our progressive PE curriculum enables children to develop a broad range of skills and apply them confidently to a variety of individual and team sports, as well as other physical activities. Every child is supported to improve, achieve their personal best, and experience success.
Through high-quality PE, school sport, and active experiences, our children are inspired to participate in physical activity beyond school and throughout their lives. They develop the stamina to remain active for sustained periods, understand the benefits of healthy lifestyles, and recognise the importance of regular exercise. By the end of Year 6, all children have the opportunity to swim at least 25 metres confidently and possess essential self-rescue skills for different water-based situations. Our PE provision ensures that every child leaves Trimley St Martin with the physical competence, confidence, and motivation to embrace sport and physical activity in the future—equipped with the teamwork, leadership, and resilience skills to thrive both on and off the field. |
