At Trimley St Martin Primary, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of our children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.
Each class has a designated time for PE. Please ensure your child comes to school prepared. They need their full TSM PE kit which is as follows;

intentOur P.E curriculum is a bespoke planned scheme, which is followed from reception to Year 6.
Children are exposed to traditional sports as well as more unusual sports such as ‘The Santa Dash’, free running and orienteering. By the time, our children leave school we hope to instill a love of sport and a want to take part in sport for pleasure. We endeavour to change their perception of ‘P.E’ and understand its importance in their health and well-being as a whole – in and out of school life. implememtation |
impactOur PE Curriculum is high quality, well thought out and is planned to demonstrate progression. If children are keeping up with the curriculum, they are deemed to be making good or better progress. In addition, we measure the impact of our curriculum through the following methods:

P.E lesson are taught to pupils by ‘Mr Childs’ who is a fully qualified Sports and PE professional who has up to date knowledge which he uses alongside a scheme of planning to provide the children with the best coaching. He ensures that children are exposed to games, skills and challenges that are suitable for their age related expectation and as a sporting professional, he can push children to deeper understanding and good qualifications.
Children are encouraged to access P.E through the wider curriculum, through topic and science lessons as well as activities during wrap around provision, break time and lunch time. Mr Childs follows a PE long term plan to ensure that the correct coverage is taught. Children receive two one hour sessions of professional coaching per week from years Rection to Year 6. Y5-6 also attend weekly swimming lessons for one term each.. |
