We recorded the results in a table. | |
Today in Science we began our lesson with a game of Articulate! The children loved trying to describe and guess one of our key vocabulary words linked to materials and their properties. We then discussed the invention of the tyre by Dunlop. After that, we completed an experiment exploring how far a ball would bounce off a wall when rolled down the ramp. We had to ensure we kept the ramp the same height to keep the experiment fair. Well done Year 2!

In Science we continued to explore the suitability of materials for different purposes. We designed sleeping bags for Humpty Dumpty. The children could choose from a range of materials. They had to first predict which material would be the most suitable and why. The children then tested our sleeping bags with Humpty Dumpty inside. We discussed the need for a control group (egg with no sleeping bag). We also ensured we dropped the eggs from a consistent height so used the picnic table as a guide.
Well done Year 2 great use of the learning gems:
In Science we went on a materials walk to name different objects and discuss their properties. The children created labelled diagrams and some were able to explain why the material was suitable for the object. Well done Year 2 great use of the learning gems:
In English we are beginning our new topic about owls. We have thought of a question that we would like to ask an owl, using a question mark to punctuate our sentences.
In Science we continued our focus on healthy eating. We explored the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo and made our own pictures of faces using a range of foods. We discussed which food group each item of food was categorised in and discussed how much of each food group we should try to consume. We also recapped the benefit each different food group had on our bodies. In Guided reading the children have been exploring poems all about nature 🌎🌳. Each week Mrs Lawrence chooses three children to learn a poem by heart to perform the following week. She was so impressed with these children’s performances 🤩.
Well done, excellent use of the learning gems:
