Every Friday morning we have been completing a session of cosmic yoga. Its been a great start to the day for all of us! It gets us in a calm, relaxed mood for the rest of the day.
In PSHE this week we have been learning about our emotions, how to express them and when we might feel them. We used our Go-Giver characters Mitali and Anna and their story of how they were feeling to help us think about what we should do if we ever feel worried, sad, angry, upset and cross. The children got to spend a lot of time talking with their peers to think about who they could talk to when they are feeling lots of different emotions. We gave the children some strategies to cope with the feelings and find the correct words to describe how they feel. As one of our rainbow activities the children had to look at the emoji and think about what emotion it was representing and write about a time when they have felt that emotion. Every Friday morning we have been completing a session of cosmic yoga. Its been a great start to the day for all of us! It gets us in a calm, relaxed mood for the rest of the day.

Its been looking very Autumnal in the Year 1 class this week. We have been exploring our Autumn tray which contained pinecones, conkers, leaves and pumpkins. In literacy we thought about good adjectives to describe the objects in the tray, we used our different senses to think of different words. In our playdough area we have cinnamon and mixed spice playdough. We have been using different cutters, acorns and conkers and have been making lots of cookies! In the wild wood we used the crackly Autumn leaves to decorate our names- They are going to look great displayed in our class! We have been enjoying our child centered sessions where we have been exploring the wood. Come rain, shine and wind we have been out and the children have loved it! We have been building dens, traps and have used rakes to collect leaves. Our gross motor skills have defiantly been working hard! We have used our creativity to make clay faces, nature animals and mud pies! Even the birds got a nice treat with our pine cone bird feeders. This week we excitedly made popcorn over a cobb stove! We started by talking about how we can keep safe and how the cobb works. We then listened carefully to hear the pops and watch the kernels turn into popcorn. We sat round on the logs while reading an autumn story while we enjoyed our popcorn! |
