Year 2 SATs week complete!
We are all SO SO proud of the children and the hard work they have put in this week! As I said earlier on in the week- they took it all in their stride and any worries they had at the beginning of the week soon disappeared when they realised they had done it all before with the practise papers. On Friday morning when we had finished our last Maths paper...and a yummy piece of chocolate cake- we gave a big cheer that we had done it! FANTASTIC work Year 2! x Today in our Literacy we were recapping Nouns. We learnt that a noun is a person, place or thing.
Firstly, we wrote down some examples of each on our whiteboards before going on a 'Noun Hunt' around the school. On the noun hunt, we wrote down people we saw, such as Mrs Goodhand and Mrs Lawrence, we wrote down places we walked past on went into, such as the toilets, the hall, classrooms and the staff room. We also wrote down things we saw such as chairs, books, the piano and the photocopier. I wonder how many nouns the children can spot at home?! Great noun spotting Year 2! This afternoon in our art lesson, we continued looking at the work and styles of the artist Kandinsky. We learnt how he used differnent lines and patterns in his work using different media.
So we had our own go at using differnt medias. First of all we used crayon to draw a mix of handwriting patterns and swirly patterns. Then, we very carelfully traced over the lines and patterns we had made with paint. We were encouraged to take our time to concentrate on carefully tracing over and following the patterns with our paintbrush. Many of us found this quite relaxing! One our creations are dry we will put them up on display. |
