We had a busy afternoon, as straight after PSHE we had Science. We started the lesson off by playing 'hangman' using some of the words from our vocabulary list for our 'Healthy living' unit.......it was Year 2 vs Mrs Tubby and Year 2 won by a long shot!! We then had a go at part of one of Joe Wicks PE lessons to get our hearts pumping! After a quick rest we then thought about all the different activities we can take part in to keep our bodies fit....we came up with so many!! Great work Year 2.....Mrs Tubby demands a rematch of hangman :D!
In this afternoons PSHE lesson, we were continuing to look at 'similarities and differences'. We played a game in which the words 'Boy' 'Girl' and 'Both' were played around the classroom. Mrs Tubby then showed us different pictures of Duvet covers. One had footballs on, one had daisies on, one had trains etc. We had to decide if we thought the duvet cover was for girls, boys or both, and stand in front of that sign. We had a lovely discussion after each picture, and we came to the conclusion that is didn't matter who the duvet covers were aimed at or intended for.....it was down to the person and their choice. For example if girls wanted a green football duvet that is fine, and if the boys wanted a pink daisy duvet, that is also fine. Another great discussion Year 2!
In this afternoons RE lesson, we started our new unit of 'Christianity'. We firstly spoke about what being a Christian meant and spoke about what a Christening was....(you may get asked if they have been Christened!).
Mrs Tubby then lit a candle and we discussed the different reasons why we may light a candle....we came up with lots! We also discussed further symbols of Christianity such as Hot cross buns and Easter Eggs and what each of these symbolised. We had such a lovely discussion as a class and all worked very hard. I think we all fancy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns for dinner tonight now! Great work Year 2! In this afternoons PSHE lesson, we were looking at the similarities and differences we share. We played a game in the hall called 'switch' in which Mrs Tubby called out different statements such as 'I have a big sister' and 'I have a dog'. If the statement was true for us, we had to stand up and switch chairs with another person. We found that we all had similarities and differences. Some statements that Mrs Tubby read out for us were the same for all of us such as 'I go to TSM' and 'I am wearing school uniform.
We really enjoyed playing the game and seeing what things we had in common (The chairs were all disinfected after the game!). Once back in the classroom, we each completed a 'shield'. We wrote down two things which was the same for all of us and two things which were different for some of us. Great work Year 2! To celebrate the launch of our Times table Rockstars and Numbots, everyone in school dressed up as either a Rockstar or Popstar.
Mrs Tubby had to choose a 'best dressed' winner......but she couldn't decide on just 1...so we had 5!! A fantastic effort from everyone in Nightingale class! |
