The children used a range of different medias and materials to decorate their necklaces just like the Maasai tribe do. This included using paint, pens, beads, string, wool and even pasta tied onto the bottom of the necklace. We had some beautiful results!
In our Science, we have been learning about the suitability of materials for different purposes. This week, the children were given the challenge to design a new school uniform. Their uniform needed to be smart and comfortable for school, but it also had to be suitable to exercise in. The children created some great designs which included smart but stretchy jeans, flashing boots, waterproof shoes, magnetic shoes and even a rainbow onesie! Great ideas Year 2!
For our STEM lesson this week, the children had to follow instructions to create 'A cloud in a Jar' - this was super fun and produced some very interesting 'clouds' in the jars.
The children have been busy learning about our new topic in Maths....Statistics. We have been looking at tally charts and pictograms, and next week we will be gathering our own information and creating our own pictograms and bar graphs!
In our Literacy we have been doing lots of comprehension tasks. This has involved reading part of a story, poem, newspaper article and skim-reading back over the text to help us find answers to corresponding questions.
For this weeks class zoom session we had a quiz. There was a Disney film round, a colours round, a numbers round, a general knowledge round and even a who's who round - in which Mrs Tubby held up different pictures of celebrities and school staff and we had to write down who they were. The pictures even included Florence Nightingale (who our class is named after) and Mrs Ross - luckily everyone recognised Mrs Ross!
Well done for another great week Year 2. You are working super hard......keep it up and keep smiling!
