In Science we looked at food packaging to sort foods into their different food groups: fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates, protein, dairy or fats. We discussed the importance of a varied diet and how different food groups benefit our bodies such as protein feeding our muscles to make us strong and carbohydrates providing energy. We also explored dairy alternatives and discussed simple changes we can make to our diets to reduce fat consumption e.g. swapping cream for yoghurt. The children were very excited to look at the different food packaging and tell each other foods they liked and didn’t like. They worked very well in their groups to sort the foods into the correct food groups. | |
