The children have settled in very well to their new classroom and are working brilliantly.
I would like to share with you some of the work from the children during their first few weeks in Year 2. We have started exploring the story of 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' in English. The children have been writing alternative endings to the story (last week) and designing a sandwich for Mr Grinling and writing instructions of how to make the sandwich. We also imagined we were seagulls and wrote recounts of our days.
In Maths we have been looking at different addition strategies including, using a number line and partitioning. We have also been thinking about place value. The children have really persevered with this as some initially found the partitioning method quite tricky.
We are going to start our topic of 'Communication' next week in computing by looking at taking photographs of different forms of communication found at school.
In music we have been looking at different genres of music and learnt a new song (video to be uploaded soon).
The children have started their independent studies now. If all children could bring some information in to assist them in working on these that would be very helpful please.
Thank you to the parents who came along to the meet the teacher presentation yesterday. I have attached a copy of the presentation for those unable to attend. If you have any questions please feel free to pop in.
As mentioned in the meet the teacher presentation any parent volunteers would be greatly appreciated :)
