In RE this half term with Miss Long, we have been learning about Buddhism and what a refuge is. In today's lesson we explored what Monastics and Laity are in the Buddhist community and how they work together on the path to enlightenment. We then watched a video about the Buddhist festival 'Wesak', and had a go at making a lantern for the festival. Miss Long GOOD USE OF THESE LEARNING GEMS:

In history, we have been considering whether the Anglo-Saxon times really were a period of 'Dark Age'. We visited Sutton Hoo and were able to expand on our learning in the classroom around this question. The children had a wonderful time in the museum looking at the artefacts, trying on the clothes and even sampling lying on the floor as thought they were King Raedwald himself!
Then, we looked at Tranmer House, had a burial mound tour and then enjoyed our lunch in the stable. After lunch, the children explored the wood and climbed trees, whilst also discovering lots of sculptures. |
