The children have used the Perseverance, Adventurous and Cooperation Gems today.
The children have had fun in maths today and have explored lots of maths games as an end of half-term treat. They have used their team-working skills to complete some of the puzzles, whilst for other tasks, they have demonstrated incredible patience in problem solving together.

We have been having such a great time continuing with our learning about the Solar System and have been working this week on the Moon - though not literally! The children have learnt that the Moon phases change over a period of approximately 28 days and that the moon changes shape according to how the light reflects on it, affecting what we see, We also learnt that the Moon is forever orbiting the Earth, trapped in its gravitational pull. In the photos, the children are representing the Earth, whilst Noah is the Moon, forever going round and round (orbiting) the Earth.
We have used the Adventurous and Cooperation Gems in science this week. In PSHE today, the children were exploring how tricky it is to work in large groups. We first began by giving the children a task to complete with no one assigned a task. Then, following being assigned tasks, the children had another go. We then discussed how knowing your role helped to complete the task more easily and also how there may have conflicts in the group, perhaps by children not sticking to their task, differences of opinions etc. Some great collaboration and also some great discussion as a result of the difficulties that the children faced with this. We used the Cooperation Gem today.
We have been looking at the Shabbat in RE today. The children have created playdoh artwork to represent the seventh day, the day of rest and then drawn on their plates words and phrases to do with the Shabbat.
We have used the Reflective Gem today. Two teams of Y5 and Y6 cyclists were selected to take part in races against other Felixstowe Primary schools as part of the Women's Cycle Tour celebrations at Felixstowe seafront. Both our Teams won all their races and overall Team A came first and Team B came second. Well done! Good use of these Learning Gems:The children have been busy this week completing some more work by the artist Hundertwasser. This week, they have worked on enlarging their artwork from week and, using pastels have made the colours more vibrant, with stunning effect.
The children have used the Creative and Concentration Gems. We have been exploring the geometric Solar System and the heliocentric Solar System today. The children explored how, by being celestial bodies themselves, they could replicate both models. The children then drew their own models of the Solar System and explained their models for both systems.
