Fun whole class photos on the last day of term. The Irwin class are a truly wonderful group of children. A massive well done to you all for how far you have come this year. You are all amazing!
In DT the children have been learning about how why chocolate bars are the colours they are and how the colours attract certain target markets, such as budget, high priced, luxury, etc.
The children then developed their ICT skills as they learnt skills to help them to be able to design their chocolate bars having carefully considered what ingredients they wanted to use. Next, the children had to create their chocolate bars. They made and lined their moulds, broke and melted their chocolate and then included their chosen ingredients. They then added their packaging once the chocolate set. The children used the cooperation, adventurous and creativity gems. In DT, the children have been learning about chocolate. They have learnt about how the chocolate grows on pods that are cut off the tree, and that the beans are harvested and then the nibs crushed to make the chocolate, adding is sugar and milk in the process.
Then, the children had the most terrible ordeal, as they got to try different types of chocolate to 'taste test' their favourite kind of chocolate. The children used the adventurous and the concentration gems today. In writing, the children have been developing more grammar skills, culminating in them writing their own third person story. The children worked on using dialogue to create a really interesting story, focusing on the use of past tense, expanded noun phrases, modal verbs, modal adverbs and of course speech writing. There were some stunning stories published by the children. Here are some of the examples.
