We have used the Independence, Reflective and Concentration Gems today.
We have started our R.E. unit today about Judaism. We began with an Engage task, where the children were introduced to the Sefer Torah through some images of the flooding in America following Hurricane Katrina. The children asked questions about the pictures, then they explored what Holy means and thought about how this related to the pictures.
We have used the Independence, Reflective and Concentration Gems today.

We have been fortunate today to have some free cycling sessions. This was in connection with the Women's Cycling Tour that is coming to the area in October. The children had a great time and were able to get some hints and tips to help their cycling techniques.
The children have used the Adventurous Gem today. We have been looking at how big the planets are in relation to each other and have used fruit to compare the planet sizes. We then used Mrs Hammond as the sun and a couple of rolls of toilet to paper to see how far away the planets (fruit) were from the sun. We have used the Creativity and Independence Gems to complete this science task.
We have been learning about the Hundertwasser and have been using viewfinders to focus on small areas of his artwork to create our own Irwin Hundertwasser's. We have used the Creativity, Independence and Concentration gems.
Today Key Stage Two were introduced to their Jigsaw Friends. We will be using these in our new PSHE lessons.
We will also being using the Jigsaw Charter.
We had some fun in the Irwin Class day by carrying out an investigation on whether the thickness of a biscuit affects how many times it can be dunked before it collapses. We examined the biscuits, made a prediction and then dunked our biscuits and recorded our findings. Whilst the overall winner was not really a surprise, the rich tea biscuit surpassed all expectations!
