We have had two near misses in the car park this week. Unless permission has been given by Mrs Ross, only staff should be entering or exiting the staff car park.  The biggest event on the School Games calendar is the National Finals.
What is it? This annual four day multi-sport event is hosted between late August and early September in elite sporting venues across the country. Since 2016 the event has taken place at Loughborough University, who have worked alongside the Youth Sport Trust to create an inspirational and motivational setting which helps accustom the country’s most promising young athletes to a high quality, high pressure environment. As of the end of the 2017 event, 19,200 young athletes have competed in the School Games. The School Games is extremely proud of all of its alumni. Many of its' athletes have gone on to be extremely successful, including Olympic and Paralympic medal winners Adam Peaty, Dina Asher-Smith, Ellie Simmonds, Hannah Cockroft, Jonny Peacock, and Max Whitlock. In fact, 56 of the 382 athletes representing Team GB at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio have competed at the School Games – 15% of the team – and if the School Games was a country it would have finished 17th in Brazil. But most importantly, the School Games provides a crucial environment to nurture top young athletes who come through the NGB talent systems. As an extra bonus, Mrs Ross will award a prize for the best pig from each class. Year 5 wrote to their class name sake and he only went and sent a signed photograph!!! Today I was invited down to Class MacArthur to see what they had made... After careful planning and lots of molding and painting, a class full of iguanas. Wednesday 6.30pm Friday 6pm Saturday 2pm Tickets from the office will be issued upon payment. Congratulations to Kingsfleet for winning this years Paarlauf competition. A super effort from all runners, from all schools, with only 18 runs separating 1st and 7th place and only 1 point between 1st and 2nd!
