Listen to the Year 6 Leavers' Single below:
Teachers were asked to think about children in their class who most represented the values of the class they have taught this year. E.g in Reception who most represented the happy, independent and friendly values connected with the Hughes Class. The winners were: Hughes Class Winner Beatrice Bloomfield Armstrong Class Winner: Phoebe Lenson Nightingale Class Winner Grace Avery Edison Class Winner Luke Baker Pendleton Class Winner Edward Matthews Mandela Class Winner Elsa Smuts Parents were invited this afternoon to the highlight of the Reception Class calendar!
The Graduation Ceremony! Mrs Ross presented the children with their awards in front of a star - studded audience (The Parents). The pupils then put on a mini Graduation gown and posed for a photo with their scroll. A great afternoon! Thank you Mrs Ross and the reception team for arranging such an excellent event. The Year 5 Recitation Challenge took place this morning and the children were fantastic!
They had two pieces to learn: (1) An extract from Wind In The Willows - which had to be rehearsed and read to the class (2) A Walter De La Mere Poem ' Silver' which had to be recited to the class. The children were judged on the following 4 criteria: - Memory - Accuracy - Pace - Clarity The judging panel of Mrs Barrell, Mrs Matthew, Mr Stock and last years winner from year 6, had the tough decision of deciding who was the winner! A very tough decision as the pupil performed very well. In the end, the winner was Lauren! But... well done to all - great work! A huge thank you to Mr Harvey for supporting the pupils and organising this challenge - much appreciated. Today's launch party went off with a bang! It was a chance for the children to see the provision available from September 2014. Games, activities, homework station, arts and crafts! The children loved it!
TSM After School Club leaders were present and the afternoon was a success! Roll on the 8th of September!!! Click here for further information on the After School Club The final Curriculum afternoon of the year took place today and LUCKILY it was an indoor one!
The afternoon was entitled ‘The Bridge Challenge’ enabled children to work in family and house teams with parents, carers and other family invited to support and join in the challenge. The only thing people needed to bring was newspaper and sellotape! The afternoon was BONKERS and it did prove that newspaper and sellotape can make some seriously strong structures! One bridge was able to support the weight of 3 parents in one go! Slightly underestimated the strength of the paper having decided that we should use bricks to test the bridges... even Grandparents were used to test the structures! We will talk about the results in the assembly tomorrow morning with Key Stage 2 and on Monday with Key Stage 1. The aim is to discuss the science of what we witnessed this afternoon. Thank you to those of you who were involved. I think we have quite a few competitive parents here : ) Now... clearing up and needing a rest! The Year 3 Choir represented the school tonight in the St Andrews Church production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and performed brilliantly. The choir consisting of 10 children from Edison class travelled to the church in the afternoon for a full dress rehearsal ready for the main show this evening. They sang their hearts out! It was fantastic! And... most importantly the children enjoyed it! Well done to all who were involved and thank you to the parents who supported with the transporting and the being part of the audience on the night. Wow! What a fantastic way to finish off what has been an excellent year! The quality of the acting, singing and dancing was superb and the children even received a standing ovation! Everyone was so proud of the children. Thank you to everyone involved... but most importantly thank you to the children who put on such an amazing show! Who needs the West End when you have TSM? Absolutely brilliant! Well done Mandela Class. The photos below are only here for a limited time. Feel free to download and pass onto Parents, Grandparents etc.
Please find attached the latest inspection report from the HMI Inspector. The school’s last full OFSTED inspection was carried out in November 2012. Since then the school has received two visits from HMI to check that the school is making progress towards a good grading at its next full inspection, which is due anytime now! We feel the report is positive and recognises the hard work put in by the teaching staff, support staff and most importantly the hard work carried out by the children. It is a positive way to end the year!
Children in year R had a fabulous trip today to Colchester Zoo! Every child had a great time but all were exhausted when they returned to school! I've never seen so many tired faces!
Thank you to the parents who support this trip along with the Reception staff for organising such a wonderful day! |
