Following a recommendation from our Governor, Lorna Adamson, we invited in Moira Oliver to come into school and talk about the time she has spent in Africa and how she has helped improve a school based in Uganda.
The children learnt a lot about the differences between African schools and English schools and Nightingale Class learnt even more about poaching, which is the topic they are studying in class at the moment. Interestingly, they were able to name all of the African animals that were shown during the assembly - some of which I'd never heard of!
At one point, Moira modelled how heavy it was to lift and carry the water that the young children are expected to do in the village she visited. She managed to find a strong child to model the process.
