Representatives from the NSPCC came in to talk with children in Year 5 and 6. The ChildLine Schools Service is about providing children with:
· An understanding of abuse in all its forms including bullying, and an ability to recognise the signs of abuse
· Knowledge of how to protect themselves from all forms of abuse
· An awareness of how to get help and sources of help, including ChildLine.
The content was delivered at a perfect level for our children and gave them a really good understanding of what ChildLine is and what is it there for. Hopefully, our children will never need to contact ChildLine, however, we feel that it is important that children know of its existence and its purpose.
During the talk, the children were very mature and sensible and asked some very pertinent questions. Mrs Matthews and Mrs Barrell were very impressed with the way they responded to what is quite a serious topic.
