The day will be organised so that pupils will be working in their HOUSE teams. The focus of the afternoon will be about learning how the school has changed over the years and we feel that it will nice to keep families together. I know sometimes you feel torn between which class to visit when we run events in class groups.
On the day, we are encouraging parents and grandparents to come along (and even better if they attended this school when they were younger!) and are asking them to bring with them photos of when they were here, or any school reports that they might have. The activities that take place in the classroom will utilise these resources and will bring the story of the school to life! Giving children a chance to meet grand parents and great grandparents that may have come to this school will be extremely valuable in helping the children to understand how the school is different and perhaps, in some cases, how the school is still very similar.
Hopefully, I will be able to persuade a few ex teachers and head teachers to come along and be here for the afternoon. I may also be able to arrange a speaker to come along and talk to the children about the history of the area.
So.... next time you are flicking through the photo album or the box you've stored from when you were younger have a sift through and dig out anything that may be useful to bring along.
Even if you didn't attend this school but perhaps another one in Felixstowe bring the information along too because I'm sure they will help add to the discussion and learning taking place.
If you have photos that you would like us to take copies of (to prevent them getting damaged on the day) bring them into school and we can take colour photocopies of them. For convenience you can also email any digital photos you may have to the office and we can print them out for you before the day. [email protected]
I really do hope you can come along and support this afternoon and help bring the history of our wonderful school to life!
