Independent Studies
Well done to the children for producing great independent studies! As it is the first year of independent studies, I think the children did really well! However, they now the sort of thing we are expecting and they are all aware of the need to pace yourselves over the whole year with the projects. Some children chose topics that were too narrow and some that were too wide, some worked solidly since September and some have only really got moving in the last few weeks. I feel the children learn a great deal from committing to a project and seeing it through to the end. Some children were really pleased with their independent studies and some were disappointed. This, for the children, is a valuable learning curve! Every child I've spoken to has suggested ways in which they can improve their independent study next year - and to me that's what its all about! The project was their own and they have identified what they need to do to make it better next time! That... is what we call learning! Well done all!
Quality of work
I'm hoping you were as impressed as I was, to see the difference in the quality of work the children are now producing. It took one flick back to the beginning of the exercise book to see the difference in content, structure and presentation of work. Hopefully, if you had a chance to see inside the children's new transition books, you'll see the quality is even higher - ready for next year!
Thank you as always for your positive comments... the staff at Trimley work exceptionally hard because they want the children to have the best learning experience as possible, although we don't do this job for complements, it is lovely to receive them!
