Today, we were visited by some Blue Cross volunteers. They were in our class to talk about how to look after animals, specifically dogs, to help us with PSHE work on Creature Kindess. The class learnt about the different things needed to look after dogs, as well as how to behave when they are around dogs they don't know. Thankyou very much to our volunteers, it was a great start to the new topic.

Over the last couple of days, the children have completed their electronic games in DT. They have spent time designing them, practicing the skills they need to make them (like stripping wire and using a connection block) and then making them. Putting the games together wasn't too difficult, the problem came when the games didn't work. The children had to put their problem solving skills to use to help them find out what had gone wrong with their circuits so the LED wouldn't light up. Some problems occurred when the wires were matched up to the wrong question and answer or if the split pin at the back wasn't touching any of the wire. However, the children worked brilliantly and most pairs were able to produce a working game by the end of the time they had. There was also lots of talk, as they worked, about how they could improve on their games showing an great understanding of the design process. Well done Year 4 :) |
