To finish our science topic on States of Matter, we tried to find the best way to dry some material without a tumble dryer. The children worked in groups to plan and carry out their own investigations. There were lots of great ideas including: spinning it around their heads; rolling it up in a towel and hanging it out to dry.

Today, in the Once Upon a Time Town Hall, we held a meeting to discuss Goldilock's behaviour towards the Three Bears. To start with, we all had our own ideas about what Goldilocks was like and why she had behaved in that way but, as the discussion continued, we began to listen to each other more and build on what other people were saying. Towards the end there were some very strong views about Goldilocks. As our meeting came to an end we had a secret ballot to decide if Goldilocks should have to pay a fine for all the damage she had done. With 20 votes to 7 it was decided that she should have to pay! This afternoon, as part of our PSHE, we explored what it might be like to be much older. The children had to wear an elastic bandage around their knee or elbow to find out what it felt like to have stiff joints, they also In maths today we were tackling word problems including measurements. To start the lesson we looked at some problems on the board and drew what we understand from reading them.
We made ice cream in science today! The children discovered how to make ice cream without using a freezer. The hard work of having to shake a bag full of ice and salt, which had another bag of milk, sugar and vanilla extract safely stored inside it, paid off when they were able to open up the bags and find the milk mix had been turned from a liquid into a solid, and they were able to it it. Yummy :)
Today the children finished the day by using glockenspiels. It was a great start to their work on this instrument and they tried hard to follow the notes of the tune Mardi Gras Groovin'. |
