I wonder if anyone in the class can add a comment and tell the story so mums and dads can follow what is happening in the film. Who's going to write the opening??
What fun we have in year 4! Here are the children acting out the story they worked on in literacy today.

This afternoon we had a visit from Pastor James, who taught the class about baptism. After listening to his explanation the children asked some really interesting questions. If you check back over the next couple of weeks you may find a blog showing off all the things we learnt.
Unfortunately we weren't able to get out this afternoon when we became Roman soldiers due to the rain, although I doubt this would have stopped real Roman soldiers! But this didn't stop us from marching and preparing to face an enemy. Later we made an Onager (a Roman catapult) and had a competition to see which one could throw a piece of clay the furthest and was therefore the best one. We put our science investigation knowledge to good use here as children identified the need for a fair test. Mrs Hayter's Onager fired the clay 10cm, which she thought was quite good until one team fired the clay 81cm! Boo hoo Mrs Hayter but well done the winning team!
If you had walked past Pendelton classroom this afternoon you may have thought we had a visiting glockenspiel band! This is only the second week of learning to play glockenspiels but the class are already getting to grips with this instrument. They have been focusing really well on the notes they need to play, keeping in time to the music and also supporting others when they are not playing the instrument themselves. Well done Pendelton, here's to more super music lessons!
During our science lessons in the first half term we were leaning about teeth and eating. We leant about the parts of the digestive system and their basic functions. Pendleton then had a great time creating a 'working model' of the digestive system. We thought about what items could represent different parts of the digestive system. We then took some food, and put it through our digestive system. It helped us have a better understanding of what happens in each part. Here are some pictures from the afternoon. Can you work out what we used for each part of the digestive system? |
