Thank you also to all the parents and teachers who came after school to buy the quiches. We have made a profit of £24.60 so far. This should rise to over £30 once all the money has been brought in by those who promised to pay later. This money will be put towards something for the class later in the year so the children would really appreciate you paying for your goods!
What an exceedingly busy end to our first half term. We would like to say a massive thank you to Shannon's mum, who stayed at school for the whole day to help the children make their quiches and to Amelia's mum, who came and helped them in the afternoon. We would simply not have been able to do it without them. Thank you also to all the parents and teachers who came after school to buy the quiches. We have made a profit of £24.60 so far. Today we had a visitor from the Salvation Army who explained to the class why William Booth began it. They found out lots and asked super questions. They looked at William Booth's plan for how he wanted to help people and how the Salvation Army help people now. I wonder if anyone can remember the answers to these questions:
1. How old is the Salvation Army? 2. What types of things do the Salvation Army do to help people? 3. What things do they do or have to make them like an army? In spite of the not so brilliant weather conditions, thanks to our unpredictable British weather, we managed to get out today on our geography walk around Kirton. We were looking for changes that were taking place around the village and we spotted loads! On the walk back there were some very interesting conversations about whether the changes we had spotted were sustainable and if everyone would approve of them. A huge thank you to the mums who came with us and put up with the very short notice change of date! Here are a just a few of the photos the children took on our walkDuring our RE lessons we have been finding out more about Jesus and how he has helped people. During this lesson I read the story of Jesus and the Paralysed Man to the class. We used pieces of card joined together with split pins to represent different key parts of the story, using them to help retell it. We also discussed what this story showed us about what Jesus was like and why him forgiving someone for their sins might make them be able to walk again. |
