Today was the completion of our DT project on bread. Over the previous weeks, the children had evaluated bread already available to buy, designed and made a mock-up of their bread and then settled on a final design to make. They were now going to spend the day making and evaluating their bread.
The children worked amazingly to make up the dough from scratch and then to create their design. Our parent helpers were fantastic, which helped to make sure that everyone's bread turned out well. We left them to prove over breaktime and then cooked them. After lunch the children were able to try their own bread, evaluating it on the look as well as the taste. They also asked other children to evaluate them to, so they could see if they had successfully answered the bread task - To make bread to go in a bakery shop window that would appeal to children. Whilst evaluating their bread the children were visited by 3 experts from Tesco. They also tried the bread and gave some feedback, explaining what they liked but also how it could have been made better.
