We finished off our science topic about sound, this week, by creating our own instruments. The children had to make an instrument where they were able to change the pitch of the notes. I was very impressed by the thought that had gone in to their instruments - one child even came in armed with a plan of how they were going to make it. They worked really well and helped each other to make their instruments.
After the making was over they then looked at the science behind them - what was making the 'strings' or 'pipes' make a different pitch.Using their knowledge from last week to help them they discovered it was to do with the tightness of a string or the length of the pipe.
