On Thursday the children worked in pairs to create a poem which followed a pattern of 8, 6, 8, 6 syllables. Below is Harvey and Thomas' example:
I am bathing in the garden,
There's very little rain.
Beautiful flowers all around,
The seaside's down the lane.
I'm going to go to the beach,
And the sun starts to shine.
The horizon will be coming,
This day is good and fine.
We are having a BBQ,
By our lovely beach hut.
I'll have an ice cream for dessert,
Get the sausages cut!
Today we wrote a poem using adverbs.
Here is Hannah's poem:
Swiftly the birds floated.
Quietly the barn owl drifted.
Excitedly the robin collected twigs.
Loudly the woodpecker pecked.
