Today in science we have been looking at parts of a flower and pollination. We drew beautiful pictures of flowers and labelled all of the parts. The female part of the flower includes the stigma, style and ovary and this joins together to be called the ‘pistil’ or ‘carpel’. The male parts are the anther and filament which join together to be called the ‘stamen’. GOOD USE OF THESE LEARNING GEMS:In maths this week we have been looking at fractions. We have discussed that the denominator shows the number of equal parts, and that the numerator shows the number of parts shaded. Today we have been looking at the 'whole' which means that both the numerator and denominator are the same number. GOOD USE OF THESE LEARNING GEMS:In DT we are making an apron for Paddington Bear so that he doesn't get covered in marmalade! This week we have been practising using a needle and thread, ready for when we start our aprons next week! GOOD USE OF THESE LEARNING GEMS: |
