Year 3 spent the morning in the Wild Wood making clay pictures on the sides of tree trunks, and making pictures using the natural resources around them.

In Geography we have been finding out about the Desert Biome. We used the tablets to research different Deserts, and we found out lots of interesting facts! GOOD USE OF THESE LEARNING GEMS:We have been very lucky to have been able to go on a school trip to Colchester Zoo! We had lots of fun exploring the Zoo and seeing lots of different animals. Our favourite was definitely the Patagonian Sea Lion Tunnel!
At 1.00pm we had a very special session with Noelle the Elf who wanted our help to find a replacement for the Reindeer. She lost the magic flying dust so wondered if Penguins were a good alternative. We helped Noelle to realise that Penguins cannot fly so aren't the best option. We got to watch some Penguins up close and the Zoo Keepers fed them lots of fish! The only thing for Noelle to do now was to call Father Christmas! He came and saw us, and his idea was to lighten the load on the sleigh by giving us a gift now! He gave us all a lovely penguin toy. We all had so much fun, and were very responsible and sensible whilst out in public. Miss Long was very proud of everyone and we all earnt a house point and a class pompom for the reward jar! In Science we looked at what vertebrates and invertebrates were, and grouped skeletons based on whether they had a spine or not. We then went on to learn about Endoskeletons, Exoskeletons and Hydrostatic skeletons. GOOD USE OF THESE LEARNING GEMS:We received a very special letter from Sir David Attenborough asking us to research animals and create fact files about them. In English lessons we have been researching Snow Leopards, Maned Three-toed Sloths, Panther Chameleons, Koalas and Emperor Penguins, and have now finished our fact files! GOOD USE OF THESE LEARNING GEMS:A few weeks ago the children were asked to design a poster to explain why they would be a good ambassador. We had so many amazing posters that it was hard to choose! Mrs Matthews and Mrs Macfarlane decided who would be a good role model for the school and these are Kiki, Aoife, Jack and Freddie.
Well done everyone! In Science lessons we have been looking at food groups, and ordering foods. We looked at how much saturated fat different foods have, and then looked at food labels to work out if there was a link between the amount of protein in foods to saturated fat.
