This week, we have been exploring the features of non-chronological reports. We have now looked at 2 different ways of presenting information in a report. The children are confident at spotting the key visual features of them, which they showed when I asked them to find each feature using counters!

Last week, the children practised the paper technique of quilling (rolling up pieces of paper into coils). Today, they put this practise to use by creating their own pieces of art work. They had to make something with a dragon or plant theme, linked to our work in science and literacy this half term. Today, we went outside to do our maths lesson. The children worked in groups to make 325 in as many different ways as they could. We then returned to the classroom to find out if there were any unique ways, ways only 1 group had thought of. There were a few of them!
We have begun to start all our new topics in Branson, with lots of amazing ideas already from the children. In our Geography we have made mind maps of all that we already know about where our food comes and whether it travels a long way. Our Science topic of growing plants has begun with the children writing questions that they hope to find the answers to during this term. In our Guided reading we have started to read the book Pebble in my pocket. We worked together to make this fantastic display which you can see outside our classroom. We have made predictions about the book and are now looking forward to finding out more about it! In maths today the children made their own numbers using place value equipment including dienes, place value counters, arrow cards and place value grids. They then moved around the classroom trying to work out what numbers had been made by other members of the class. |
