This afternoon we showed some of the fantastic work we have completed so far this term on the Ancient Egyptians. We began with placing Egypt in the world and also with showing how long ago Ancient Egypt was (it was over 4000 years ago if you're not sure!). Then we showed off some of the fantastic work we have been producing in Literacy - with children reading descriptions of their characters as well as letters from scribes in training and a letter from Howard Carter to Lord Carnarvon to say he had found the tomb of Tutankhamun. The children also shared their beautiful singing voices with a short song they had learnt about Egypt, which was quickly followed up by the song being played on the recorders. The class were also able to show of their lovely art work and postcards they had produced on the computer. To round off this great assembly the children shared a piece of performance poetry, titled 'Gran can you rap', which they had been looking at in Literacy over the past week and, to the delight of everyone in the hall, one member of the class put on a fantastic performance as the rapping gran. The children did a super job showing off their work and are looking forward to having this work displayed around the school so others can see more clearly what they have produced.
