We started investigating the properties of rocks today, trying to find a rock that was hard wearing, durable and impermeable. The children worked well with the equipment they were given and drew their own tables in their science books to record everything they found out.
As a class, we then looked at whether all rocks would sink if they were put in water. Before trying it out, the children made the prediction that no rocks could float. However, they were proved wrong when we put a pumice stone in!
