Our Runners-up!
MIss Rushbrooke was super impresses with all our Easter Egg designs, and told us that she and the other adults in EYFS had great fun looking through all our creative and colurful designs. The adults told us that they found it REALLY hard to pick out the winners. The adults narrowed the entries down to six, and then asked Mrs Ross to pick out 2 runners-up and 2 winners, and these children were... Our Runners-up! Our Winners!

Today, Mrs Rushbrooke surprised us by coming in to see us and very kindly planted some potatoes, carrots and peas with us. Many of us had a go at putting the potatoes deep in the soil, and some of us helped sow pea and carrot seeds. Mrs Rushbrooke spoke to us about how we would need to look after them by watering them often and being extra careful near the plants. Mrs Rushbrooke also told us that the potatoes, peas and carrots should be ready to dig up later on in the summer so we can have them for our snack! Thank-you Mrs Rushbrooke! This afternoon, we had another visit from Paul from Tesco, who came to talk to us about Easter. He spoke to us about all the different ingredients which go into Hot Cross Buns. We smelt lots of mixed spices such as ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg- we even got to try some hot cross buns too - they were yummy! Paul also spoke to us about why we have eggs at Easter - explaining to us that many years ago people used to decorate eggs, and why we now have chocolate Easter eggs, After this, we then had the chance to design and decorate our own eggs, Paul was very impressed with our creative ideas!. He also very kindly gave us all some Easter sweets. We would like to say a big THANK-YOU to Paul for coming in to visit us today. Welcome back to the Summer term! I hope you all had a lovely Easter break!
As you will see from the Curriculum overview which I will be sending home with the children, our new topic this term is DISNEY! Already today, we have been thinking lots about different Disney films, books and characters and mind-mapping our ideas. Over the course of this topic, we will be looking at lots of different Disney stories and films which will be reflected within the different areas of the classroom and the Reception garden. We also hope to link in some visitors with this topic too! If you have anything Disney(ish?) which you no longer need or are willing to donate to our class, we would be very grateful! *Also just a quick reminder that we have PE on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Now we are in the Summer term and the weather will (hopefully0 be warming up, PE lessons will be taking place outside, in preparation for sports days later on in the term. As we will be the first class out using the field in the mornings, the grass may be a little damp, so you may wish to add a spare pair of socks into your childs PE bag for them to change into. Many thanks, Miss Rushbrooke. |
