For our cooking session this week, we made cheesy caterpillars, to tie in with our ;Minibeast. theme.
We used our fingertips to mould the pastry into caterpillar shapes, and sprinkles some cheese on the top. We then used two raisins for eyes, and into the oven they went......and our classroom soon smelt rather yummy!

As, promised, today I had the pleasure of looking at all the AMAZING Easter Egg designs which the children had completed for their homework over the holidays.
There really were some fantastic, colourful and very creative designs, which I really had trouble narrowing down....so after getting it down to 10 designs, I called on the help of Mrs Ross. 
Mrs Ross asked for the children's names to be covered so that it was completely fair......and although she also found it quite a tough task, Mrs Ross picked our 2 winners and our 2 runners up....

Everyone who completed the homework task was also presented with a certificate.....WELL DONE HUGHES CLASS!

Today, a winner was picked from each class for consistently reading 5 times a week during the previous term.
All the names of the children who did this were written on a raffle ticket, and picked out of a box, and our class winner was.......GRACE!......Well done Grace, what a great choice of book too!

​Remember, to be in with a chance of winning their own book for this term, children need to be reading 5 times each week, and this needs to be recorded in their yellow reading record. It does not always need to be their school reading book either, it may be a picture book, a newspaper, a magazine....or even reading road signs!.....whatever it is, we need to see it written down please.

Just to let you know that there will not be any homework given this week. I am on a course on Thursday and Friday this week, so will be unable to mark the previous homework and get the next lot out.

However, please do still send in the Easter homework on Thursday as normal. I will mark it at the beginning of next week and ask Mrs Ross to come an award a prize for the best effort Easter egg design!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter break, and I would like to welcome you back! - I can't quite believe that the children are about to enter their third term at school!

Our topic for this half term is 'Minibeasts', which will link into all areas of our learning. A breakdown of what we will be learning will be sent out to you soon.

Just to make you aware that you will not see Mrs Rushbrooke at school for a little while. During the Easter holidays, Mrs Rushbrooke had to have some surgery for a previous illness. She is doing well but is not able to return to school for 2 weeks- possibly a little longer depending on her recovery. 
Please bare with us during this time with the changing of reading books etc, as we may be a little short-staffed.
