We need to make sure we look after them and water the beds regularly for the potatoes can grow...then the adults can cook them and we can taste them for our snack later in the summer term!
This Afternoon, some of us helped Mrs Rushbrooke plant some potatoes in our raised beds. We had to dig a little trench and sprinkle a little fertilizer in first, before we could plant the potatoes. We need to make sure we look after them and water the beds regularly for the potatoes can grow...then the adults can cook them and we can taste them for our snack later in the summer term!

This morning, we had our photograph taken with our school Elephant...Martin. Now every child and adult in the school has carefully written their name on one of the 'books' on his back...he is all finished and ready to go off on his adventure! We think Martin looks great! For our cooking session this week, we have decorated buns for Mother'd day!...but shhhh they are a surprise!
We iced our buns with buttercream and then decorated them with sprinkles, hearts and flowers. Thank you Alex for helping us with our cooking today. For this weeks cooking session, we made sausage meat pies.
From the pastry Mrs Rushbrooke had kindly made us, we each used a pastry cutter to cut out a 'botttom' for our pie, which we pushed into a muffin tray. We then filled out pies with some sausage meat...we had a quick feel and it felt gooey and cold! Next, we had to use the pastry cutter again to cut out 'lids' for our pies....these kept the sausage meat in. Our final (and most fun) step was carefully making the ears, eyes and nose for the pigs out of the remaining pastry! We think they looked rather cute.....Miss Rushbrooke thought they even looked too cute to eat! Thank you to Mrs Rushbrooke for helping us cook today. As you will of seen from the letter sent out today, this coming Friday (22nd) is 'National Goof Off Day'.
The children ARE allowed to wear their own clothes just as other classes are. As a class, we have also decided to wear Sunglasses and Wellies as our 'goofy, fun and different' thing to do!......I hope that makes sense! We saved our cooking day for today (Friday) to celebrate 'Red Nose Day'. We were each given 2 Rich Tea biscuits, which we firstly had to ice. We then used grapes for eyes, a strawberry for a nose and strawberry lace for a mouth. We then put them in the fridge for the icing to set.
Thank you to Mrs Rushbrooke for helping us! We felt very lucky yesterday, as not only did we receive a lovely photo of the Firefighters with the Thank you card we had made them, but we also received a special video message from Russ and Percy - the Police officers who came into visit us.
They too, had received our Thank-you card, and sent a video of them looking at it and giving their thanks. Thank-you once again to Russ, Percy and Lindsey for coming into visit us! Today Miss Rushbrooke was sent the following photo from the members of 'Blue watch' at Ipswich East Fire Station. They have received our Thank you card and are very grateful......as were we for our fantastic trip!
Thank you again Blue Watch! For this weeks cooking session, we celebrated Shrove Tuesday a couple of days later....and made pancakes!
Mrs Rushbrooke and Alex kindly made each of us a fresh pancake, and we could choose which topping to have on it. We had the choice of: chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, maple syrup, golden syrup and sugar with fresh lemon or orange. They were rather yummy! |
