The whole school has had a great time carrying out a biscuit investigation at the start of this term!

In Reception, we read the story ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We then discussed what we thought would happen if the Gingerbread man didn’t hop on the fox’s back and went in the water instead. The children made some great predictions. “He will get broken.” “He will get sunked down to the bottom.” “He will melt like ice.” “He will go all crumbly.”

We then decided to carry out an investigation and dipped a gingerbread biscuit into a cup of water. The children were so excited to see what happened. “He is going soggy,” “He is breaking.” “He is sinking to the bottom.” “He won’t go back to hard again now!”.

One child was curious what would happen if the play dough next to us went in the water, so we tested that out too. It went very slimy and gooey! We decided we’d best keep our play dough nice and dry!

We were then lucky enough to have a second gingerbread to gobble up ourselves! Yummy!
