The children enjoyed decorating their bananas as monsters and their strawberries as ghosts.
This week we have had lots of Halloween themed fun! The children enjoyed melting our frozen witches hands to discover what was hiding inside. We had lots of fun making spells and potions. The children had a go at writing some absolutely fantastic spells that caused the staff to act like crazy animals. Poor Mrs Goodhand was the victim of many of the spells and turned into a rat, bat, cat, lion, tiger and snake amongst other things! The children enjoyed decorating their bananas as monsters and their strawberries as ghosts.

This week we have been thinking about the human body. We learnt ‘The Skelton Song’ and had lots of fun singing and dancing along. We read the story Funny Bones too and talked about the different bones in our bodies. 🦴
The children have had lots of fun exploring the X-rays on our light box, building a body puzzle and putting together a giant skeleton picture. We have also begun making our own skeleton pictures with art straws based on ‘Funny Bones’. We learnt that the human body has around 206 bones. (It can vary!). We felt our ribs and our back bones and talked about why the skull is so important! We also looked at pictures of the human brain and decided that it looked a bit yucky, even though it is so important because it controls our body. What super learning! This week we have been learning all about our emotions. By reading the Colour Monster by Anna Llena's we have not only learnt new vocabulary but we now have a better understanding of what emotions are. The children have been highly engaged with this book and have been overheard discussing how they are feeling by using 'I feel yellow' or ' I feel green'. This has been incredibly heart warming as it has also led onto the children working out how to help each other if their friends are not happy. Child A: I feel sad as no-one will play with me. Child B: I love you and I will play with you. We have done artwork relating to this book and the children have been able to capture the facial expression of the corresponding colour monster brilliantly! We all hope you have a yellow weekend. |
