One of Father Christmas' elves has been very busy making our classroom look beautiful and festive! 🎅🎄🌟
Today the children recapped the sounds s a t p. They had to write the letters on post it notes and find objects beginning with these sounds. Some children even identified some other initial sounds of objects in the classroom! The children have continued their explorations of the numbers 1, 2 and 3 but today the learning was taken to the reception garden. They had to find 1, 2 or 3 objects, stand in groups or 1,2 or 3 and show 1, 2 or 3 on their fingers. There was a challenge activity available to count and represent numbers to 10. The children were also encouraged to think about one or two more than the number they counted.
The children explored different ways of representing the numbers 1,2 and 3 using cubes, fingers, counters, dice and numicon. The children made moon dust by mixing flour and oil. They then decorated it with some glitter. The moon dust will be available in the malleable area all week to promote the children's imagination and fine motor skills.
This half term the children are exploring space!
Some of the children built some space related words using magnetic letters. The children continued their maths focus of repeating patterns continuing patterns using objects from the Wild Wood. Great use of the learning gems:Some of the children helped to make a giant poppy for Rememberance day. Great use of the learning gems:The class all sat beautifully for a two minute silence to remember the brave soliders. The children also enjoyed playing on the rope swings, creating in the mud kitchen, fishing in the pod, threading leaves and looking for worms! Great use of the learning gems: |
